How common is high radon where you live?

Radon is an invisible, odourless gas from the ground, and the leading cause of lung cancer in non-smokers. Health Canada says a home should be fixed if its radon is above 200 Bq/m³, called the action level. This map shows radon levels across Canada: how common homes above that level are where you live.

What level is OK for my home?

Health Canada recommends fixing your home if radon is above 200 Bq/m³ (becquerels per cubic metre, the unit radon is measured in). Lower is always better: no level is completely risk-free. The only way to know your home's level is a test of at least 3 months.
